Studies have revealed that caffeine may help focus your mind on positivity and may even reduce the risk of depression.

A 2012 study looking into the effects of caffeine and the recognition of positive words shows that subjects who had 200 milligrams of caffeine were able to spot positive words such as ‘happy’ more accurately, compared to those who took a lactose pill placebo. (1)

Back in 2011 a study into coffee, caffeine and the risk of depression among women found that the depression risk decreased when coffee consumption increased. Over a 10 year period those who drank 4-5 cups of coffee a day had a reduced risk of depression compared to those who consumed little or no coffee. (2)

There are many other studies that have shown caffeine may boost creativity and positivity but most researchers feel that further investigation is needed to confirm these findings.

Whether you believe that coffee can boost positivity or not, a steaming cup of strong coffee might be just what you need to bring a smile to your face.
