Go green in your workplace

Go green in the workplace

All of us would certainly like to do more for the environment and implementing the five R’s is a great way to go green in the workplace.

Lets help the environment

Reuse containers to help the environment

All of us would certainly like to do more for the environment and implementing the five R’s is a great way to go green in the workplace.

You may be surprised that such small changes can make a difference, but in the bigger picture they really can help. Throughout your work day consider the five R’s and move towards a more sustainable and environmentally friendly workplace.

Reduce

Only use what you need.

Cut down on printing and only use paper when necessary; most office documents can be kept digitally. Turn off lighting, technology and appliances when not in use and use only what you need to use.

Reuse

You can reuse almost everything.

Use scrap paper and misprints as note paper before recycling. If you’re an employer then supply ceramic cups, cutlery, and plates for lunch. If your an employee you could bring your lunch in a reusable lunch box or reuse a plastic bag.

Recycle

Cardboard, paper, glass, plastic and aluminium can all be recycled.

Make recycling bins available for employees and give out incentives to recycle items. Make better choices when purchasing supplies for your workplace; choose biodegradable coffee cups and lids for coffee machines and take out cafeterias.

Repurpose

Get crafty and up-cycle when ever you can.

This may require a bit creative skill but if you enjoy crafts you can repurpose almost anything, you could pretty up a cardboard box to use for storage in the workplace.

Take a look at this craft use for our wooden coffee stirrers, maybe it will inspire you.

Rethink

Consider alternative greener options.

If you can’t recycle, prepose or reuse objects then consider alternatives. Purchase recycled paper and toilet roll. Use fair-trade coffee and tea options, not only are they better for you, but these promote biodiversity conservation and reusable filters cut down on waste.

Can you go green in the workplace?

Making some basic changes in your office environment can go along way. Think before you throw anything away, consider if you can reuse, repurpose or recycle. If not reduce and rethink what you don’t need.

Let’s help make a difference for future generations.
