Why roast your own coffee beans?

You can achieve wonderful flavours from roasting your own beans. You don’t have to have a professional set up as roasting coffee beans can be done in your own oven.

How do you roast your own coffee beans?

There are many ways to roast coffee from pot roasting or oven roasting.

Oven roasting achieves particularly uneven results but this can create some very interesting flavours.

Or you could try a IKAWA home roaster which has been designed with both novice and experts in mind. It has pre-programmed roast timings to ensure you never go wrong.

How do you store after roasting?

Store your freshly roasted coffee beans at room temperature in an airtight container such as a Mason Jar.  Avoid sunlight and make sure they are stored away from strong odours, coffee beans can absorb the smell, which will effect the taste.

How long will they stay fresh after roasting?

Most coffee beans taste best when they are freshly roasted, however for some beans it can be 2-3 weeks after first roasting that they taste best. Test your beans until you find the optimum date to achieve the best flavour for your roast.

Where do Green Coffee Beans come from?

Our Unroasted Green Beans are sourced from various places around the world. Our Costa Rican Unroasted Coffee Beans are grown in various regions within Costa Rica at an altitude above 1350 meters. This is the ideal height for gourmet coffee.
